« At AFE, I carried out a mission with young girls in vulnerable situations. Assisting the embroidery and sewing teachers, I learned a lot about Senegalese traditions. I also invited the students to take part in a collective embroidery project. They responded enthusiastically and participated with a joy and talent far beyond my expectations.

For me, this first humanitarian mission was an important turning point in my personal journey. Authentic exchanges, mutual commitment and a desire to create something beautiful together!

The atmosphere in Pikine, the energy of all the children and girls, the warm welcome of the association’s staff, all stayed with me throughout the mission. All this will stay with me for a long time. Thank you so much! »

“At the association’s elementary school I was able to meet the teachers and draw inspiration from their know-how. They taught me a lot. I took part in French and math classes and gave English lessons to CM1 and CM2 students. I also helped older students (middle school, high school) assimilate their lessons.

I’d like to express my gratitude to the AFE and the people of Pikine in Saint-Louis, especially the children, for their warm welcome and the cultural exchange we enjoyed together. Deep and lasting friendships were sown during this magnificent experience.”

« I taught English and computer science. I also managed the Wednesday activities where we played games, made origami, sang songs together with the kids… A shared joy is a double joy. »

« My will to help others and to give a meaningful value to my holidays led me to discover AFE through my uncle Daniel.
During my stay, with the precious help of the AFE members, we renovated and extended the electrical installations on the A.F.E. premises.

This project made of precious exchanges was also an opportunity for me to make use of my knowledge in electricity and safety at work.

This first humanitarian trip has been a wonderful adventure that I will never forget, made of exchanges of experiences, knowledge, techniques, life and laughter. An enriching experience that as I was told can only be truly understood by being lived. »

« My role was to set up a library and train a librarian, to teach French to children in difficulty and to train teachers on different teaching techniques.

The more you give, the more you get back. You feel thoroughly enriched. in your deepest self. I`m leaving feeling so enriched that I will come back to plant seeds of Love. »

« I am neither a doctor, nor a nurse, nor an instructor, so I arrived at the association without a predefined mission but I quickly found my place. I switched between doing computer maintenance and animation with young kids, but my main focus was start a new project here and for that I sought out donations so that this beautiful project could be carried out. My tasks were therefore very varied and very interesting. The pleasure of bringing and giving to all these young people and to the association is enormous, and I cannot quantify the Love that one receives in return which is immeasurable. »

« A very enriching experience in all areas. The A.F.E team, especially Maodo, is very kind and welcoming. A first humanitarian mission for us and not the last! »

« During my 18 months at A.F.E, I had the chance to contribute to school life and offer support to the students in difficulty.

I had the chance to assist the pedagogical supervisor and of course I did not let go of « my » children: preparation for the dictation contest, sports activities, preparations for parties, supervision during the end of year excursions, replacement of absent teachers…

I also worked in the principal’s office, doing secretarial work and renovating and decorating it. During the summer vacations, I was able to organize literacy classes for the young women of the neighborhood and participate in the extracurricular activities that were organized.

It was for me an extraordinary human experience, rich in all aspects. Maodo, Baye, the teachers and all the staff at A.F.E were great. Always caring and attentive, they allowed me to find and even create my place within the association…

And then the children… What a happiness! Their joyful laughter, their big black eyes that sparkle! Their voice still rings in my ears when they call me: « Nadia, Nadia, Nadia, Nadia…

I can’t wait to go back! »
